NBC have cancelled AD: The Bible Continues after one season.

While NBC have cancelled the series, the show may get another season on a different platform.

The producers of the show have been working on an online channel that would primarily show faith based content, and they are looking at having AD: The Bible Continues as one of their premiere shows.

While it’s still in the works, the channel may not be ready until 2016 or 2017, so the cast’s contracts have expired. So if the show does indeed return, there may be a different cast when it returns.

The series started off strongly, attracted 9.6 million viewers, but it dropped to 3.5 million by the end of the 12th episode. It still averaged 5.41 million, but NBC weren’t happy enough with those numbers.

The AD: The Bible Continues mini-series tells the tale of the later chapters of biblical history (following the Crucifixion of Christ). It focuses on the disciples who had to go forward and spread the teachings of Christ to a world dominated by political unrest. The cast includes Juan Pablo Di Pace, Adam Levy, Richard Coyle, Vincent Regan, Greta Scacchi, Babou Ceesay, Chipo Chung, Emmett J. Scanlan, Jodhi May, Joanne Whalley, Ken Bones, Kevin Doyle, Helen Daniels, and Fraser Ayers.
