WGN America have cancelled their period drama Manhattan after two seasons.
The series was plagued by poor ratings.
The first season averaged 420,000 over it’s 13 episodes, however the ratings dropped to around 240,000 per episode in season two.
WGN America president Matt Cherniss released a statement:
After careful consideration, we have reached the very difficult decision not to move forward with a third season of ‘Manhattan.’ We are proud of this critically acclaimed series, an extraordinary original drama, and are deeply disappointed that such a wonderful show could not find a larger audience. We thank the immensely talented Sam Shaw and Thomas Schlamme, along with the exceptional cast and crew and our great partners at Lionsgate and Skydance, for crafting a masterful series. We are equally grateful to the dedicated fans for their support over the last two seasons.”
The series dramatized the Manhattan Project’s development of nuclear weapons in 1940s New Mexico. The series starred John Benjamin Hickley, Olivia Williams, William Petersen, and Daniel Stern.
Their will be no third season for MTV’s teen drama Finding Carter after it has been cancelled.
The news wouldn’t come as a shock to many people as the ratings have dropped in the second season.
The first season averaged 1.14 million viewers over 12 episodes.
The second season dropped to only 560,000 viewers over 24 episodes.
The ratings dropped by 50% during the second season and it would have been hard to imagine a renewal with those numbers.
The season two finale aired on December 15th, 2015
On Finding Carter, a teenager (Kathryn Prescott) discovers that her beloved single mom actually abducted her as an infant and she’s reunited with her birth family. The cast also includes Cynthia Watros, Anna Jacoby-Heron, Alexis Denisof, Zac Pullam, and Alex Saxon.
